My daughter and I created portable horse name stall signs.
She decided on the color palette and we purchased Acrylic paint, wood signs (8×10)and sponge paint brushes from Hobby Lobby.
We needed to create a zigzag template for our design, I created the template on the Cricut Maker using old vinyl in colors that I did not want anymore.
Paint your entire wood block with the base color. Then add your vinyl template to the front pressing all the edges down firmly to the painted wood block. Gently paint your first layer of the contrasting color, minding your edges (I find painting the darker color as your base works better, paint the lighter color second). Be careful when painting that you do not lift your vinyl template, it’s best to brush the first layer from the center of your vinyl towards the edge. After your first layer has dried, it’s not necessary to be so careful. Repeat until you get the desired color contrast.L et the block dry completely. Peel your vinyl off gently. We touched up our edges with a paint brush.
We cut the horse’s name out of vinyl, attached it to the front of the block.
We glued very strong magnets to the back. This makes your sign portable can be used when traveling to horse shows.
We completely sealed the sign with spray shellac. It will be easier to clean the sign if it is sealed.
If your stall is not metal you could drill two holes on either end and use a chain to hang it on the stall.
